AUDITION NOTICE - DARTMOUTH PLAYERS THEATRE

Audition Notice:  Glorious

The story of Florence Foster Jenkins in the quintessential underdog story. Although she wasn't what we consider today as talented, her strength, her determination and her spirit were unshakable. She loved what she did, and did what she loved, despite all odds and despite all who told her she couldn't. Decades later her story is still inspiring many to follow their dreams!  Known as “the first lady of the sliding scale,” she warbled and screeched her way through the evening, to an audience who mostly fell about with laughter. But this delusional and joyously happy woman paid little attention to her critics, surrounded as she was by a circle of devoted friends who were almost as eccentric as she was.

The Characters are:

FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS - an eccentric American lady, 50s/60s/70s

DOROTHY - Florence's friend, 50s/60s

ST. CLAIR - Florence's English boyfriend, 50s/60s

COSME MCMOON - a pianist, 20s/30s

MARIA - Florence and St Clair's Mexican cook and housemaid

MRS. VERRINDER-GEDGE - an American lady, late middle age
