O’Boston Tree

O’ Boston Tree by Adam Norton and Justin Mozel is a whacky fun-filled laugh-a-minute adventure that is sure to leave your belly sore and your heart warmed. What begins as a 12 year old wishing to have a normal family quickly turns into quite the opposite. We’ve got angels, santa claus, a TREE INSPECTOR. Seriously this is a show you don’t want to pass up the opportunity to audition for. Newcomers welcome!
Auditions will be held September 21st and 22nd from 7pm to 9pm at Dartmouth Players, 44 Hester St. Excerpts from the play will be supplied and used during the audition. Once the amazing cast has been picked a table read will commence the following Thursday the 25th. Rehearsals will be scheduled 3 hours a night for 3 days a week. Tentatively Thursday, Sunday, and Monday every week from 6-9pm (subject to change based upon availability of everyone involved) Note that the first few weeks of rehearsals the entire cast will not be required but as we approach the final weeks before show open attendance of all will be mandatory.
O’ Boston Tree has 17 parts, age and gender are not important aside from 3 characters. There are 2 non-speaking but vital roles, namely those of STAGEHAND 1 and STANGEHAND 2.

Characters:
- Narrator - Opens the show with some bad news but follows through and might even get a raise!
- Audience Member - A disgruntled patron
- Gabriel/Gabe - Arrives as an angel but suddenly becomes the best friend of a 12 year old. (The character of Gabe is 12 years old however the character of the angel playing Gabe is an adult)
- Victor - Father of Billie (mid 30’s) A little too obsessed over his passions, resulting in a daughter feeling less than appreciated
- Paula - Mother of Billie (mid 30’s) A successful lumberjack, also quite wrapped up in the quest for the perfect tree
- Billie - The Protagonist (12 or 13) quite tired of living under the shadow of a weird science family. Has a big heart, but like most tweens, needs a little direction.
- Granny - Grandmother to Billie (60+) she would tell you the secret to her cookies, but that’s the last thing you would ever hear.
- Douglas - A tree that eventually talks. Desperately wants to be a Christmas Tree. Finds out that friendship is pretty cool too.
- Delivery Man - A man that delivers and also falls.
- Rootus - Henchman and Partner to Prunella. Mild mannered with spouts of confidence
- Prunella - Villainess and Partner of Rootus Desperate to rule over Christmas.
- Principal Kringle - A Principal who’s Secretly Santa (same actor) (60+). Santa - Santa who is Secretly a Principal (same actor as Kringle)
- Kevin - Son of Prunella and Rootus (same as Billie) in the beginnings of building a podcasting empire. Hates cinnamon.
- News Reporter - A Reporter of New Information
- Stage Hand 1 - A Disgruntled Backstage Person
- Stage Hand 2 - A Second Disgruntled Backstage Person
- Inspector - Boston Christmas Tree Inspector
