Audition Notice for Dartmouth Players’ production of
Escape From Happiness

Auditions for this dark comedy will take place on Sunday Nov. 16 and Monday Nov. 17, 2025, 6-9 pm at the Dartmouth Players theatre at Stairs Memorial United Church, 44 Hester St., Dartmouth.
The play will run Thursday-Sunday, March 12-28, 2026.
Escape from Happiness is an offbeat Canadian comedy where family dysfunction meets razor-sharp wit. When a member of the family is attacked, chaos erupts in the kitchen of a small, crumbling home. George F. Walker’s dark comedy is a fast, funny, and raw look at love, loyalty, and the messy ways families try to protect each other.
Auditions will be first come-first served using excerpts from the script.

Nora, the matriarch, 60ish
Elizabeth, Nora’s oldest daughter, 40’s
Mary Ann, Nora’s middle daughter, 40’s
Gail, Nora’s youngest daughter, 30’s

Dian Black, a police detective, 30-40
Mike Dixon, a police detective, 50-60
Rolly Moore, a criminal, 40-50
Stevie Moore, a criminal, 20-30
