Community theatre, as so many people have discovered over the years, is a great way to participate in both community and theatre through the theatre experience from behind the scenes or in front of an audience! Meet, work, socialize, and have fun with all kinds of interesting people.
Have you ever sat in the audience and wondered how a play goes from script to the live performance before you? The answer is…with the help of people like you! Throughout our past season, a per-play average of 25-50 people were involved in helping the Players ‘create the illusion’ and bring to life the Director’s vision of his or her play.

Can’t act, you say? Have never been involved in theatre before?
There are many things you can do that don’t require being on stage. Perhaps you could help build or dress sets; piece together costumes; beg, borrow, make, and/or change props; help the front-of-house staff; take tickets; design play programs; make phone calls; solicit advertising; record minutes; arrange workshops…..the list goes on and on.
But, I don’t have any experience!
Experience is not necessary. You learn as you go, right along with the rest of us.
If we’ve convinced you to help ‘create the illusion’, fill out the form below! If you just want to help support community theatre, that’s fine too. Either way, there are many benefits of membership in Dartmouth Players. For only $10.00 a season, membership entitles you to:
- Participate in any of our productions
- Receive our newsletter
- Vote at general meetings
Come be a part of community theatre!
I acknowledge that I will transfer $10.00 to treasurer@dartmouthplayers.ns.ca. Please set password to “membership” One word, all lower case. Please put the member name in the notes on the transfer to facilitate matching your transfer to the Membership.
